Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is currently recruiting for the position of 7 on/7 off night shift Emergency Medicine Pharmacist . Responsibilities include provision of drug information to providers and patients, medication reconciliation activities for pediatric and adult patients and select high risk prospective medication order verification. Focus patients for these activities include those prescribed high-risk medications, concurrent end organ dysfunction or multiple comorbidities and extremes of age. Much of the pharmacists time will be spent at the bedside interacting with patients and the care team to ensure safe, rational and cost effective therapy. This position reports to the Emergency Medicine Pharmacist Coordinator and all hours worked are focused in the ED.

The Emergency Department at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center serves greater than 75,000 pediatric and adult patients annually, with an engaged leadership that recognizes pharmacists’ value. The pharmacy department is widely recognized for providing progressive pharmacotherapy services for all patients in central PA.

Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy required.

ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy residency or 3 years of relevant clinical pharmacy experience required.

Active and valid PA licensure or eligibility as a Pharmacist required.


Ability to prioritize and organize daily activities to meet patient care needs required.

Effective verbal communication skills, time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities required.

Ability to analyze clinical data and perform calculations.

Computer and Microsoft Office skills required.

Extensive knowledge of pharmacotherapy required.

Attention to detail and critical thinking skills required.

Effective mentoring and precepting abilities required.
