Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing required.

Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.

3 years of experience as a registered nurse in the inpatient or ambulatory care setting required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Variety of strong clinical nursing experience and/or ED/critical care experience, including pediatrics.

Phone triage experience.

The RN, Triage Nurse is a vital member of the care team who functions primarily within a centralized call center. The RN in this role would not be required to work any weekends of holidays. The Triage RN should possess strong written and oral communication skills. He or she provides nursing advice, nursing assessment, and education to Penn State Health customers via telephone interaction. Utilizing computer based algorithms, protocols or guidelines, the RN, Triage Nurse will assess and plan patient care and implement interventions.The Triage RN provides an integral level of customer service to the patient, connecting the patient and the provider during office hours. Serving as a trusted resource for each patient, the RN can interpret provider instruction and provide patient education.
