This position serves as a key strategic planning and analytics resource for Penn State Health System. This position is responsible for the research, analysis and reporting of information relevant to the development and implementation of the organizations strategies and service line initiatives. In collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer, they are responsible for the facilitation, development and monitoring of the systems long-range and annual strategic plans, inclusive of the vision statement and related strategies, business plans, and regulatory mandated efforts. This position provides guidance and support related to the management of disparate data systems that are used to generate reports used in planning-related activities.
The Vice President of Strategic Planning will report to the CSO. Key responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategies and actions to advance overall strategic direction of the health system, including enhancing existing service lines, contributing to physician alignment in primary and specialty care, supporting the identification of, and analysis of new opportunities and potential partner organizations, all in alignment with the executive team and the strategic plan. The Vice President is responsible for continuous analysis of all existing and ongoing strategic investments across the system, surveying market conditions, and providing guidance to organizational leadership.
Masters degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, or related field required.
7 of experience in Hospitals and Health Systems in a strategic planning role required.
Additionally, 7 years of experience in managing, assessing or leading some facet of strategic planning, service portfolio management or new product development as wel as leading and managing cross-functional initiatives required.

Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, financial analysis, and execution skills.
Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge organization and its business units.
Expertise in budget planning and financial management.
Knowledge of healthcare provider operations, specifically post-acute care operations
Direct working experience in Hospitals, Physician Groups & Health Systems
Proven analytic and quantitative ability ¿ use data to drive decision-making
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with senior leadership internal and external.
Effective communication skills with stakeholders both internally and externally, including providers, insurers and members of the business community as desired ¿ ability to convey complex ideas simply for all audiences
Demonstrated ability to lead and engender the trust of employees, members, regulators, and providers
Knowledge of clinical and financial systems preferred
Operations and/or Marketing experience viewed as a plus.
